Arts Council of Tamworth has long been devoted to cinema as an art form - we began showing films in our second year of existence.

Currently, ACT! has a 3 or 4-week film series in each of the four seasons, with showings on Mondays at Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth and on Wednesdays at Moultonborough Public Library. We always show the very best from independent and foreign filmmakers.

The screenings are supported by the generosity of audience donations, in lieu of a set admission. ACT! later donates the films for circulation among the area's libraries.

New series are announced on this page and in the local media. For more information and to make movie suggestions, contact the head librarians at Cook Memorial Library, 603-323-8510 or Moultonborough Library, 603-476-8895.

Thanks, in part, to Beam Construction Associates and ACT season sponsor Silver Lake Home Center, audiences enjoyed the following films during our Winter series (ending March 12, 2008): "Golden Door", Emanuele Crialese's coming-to-America story (Italian, with subtitles); "Starter for 10", a rolocking bittersweet comedy from the producers of My Big Fat Greek Wedding; "Secret Life of Words", a compelling film by Pedro Almodovar, with Academy Award winner Tim Robbins; and "Into the Wild", Sean Penn's adaptation of John Krakauer's best-selling book.

Stay tuned for our NEXT film series!
